Orion's Sword
Constellations have always served as a way for humanity to tell their stories through the heavens. Independent stars eventually just so happen to come together at the right time to form shapes that resonate with the humans that exist to view them, and give them meaning beyond their objective fact. This project is a love letter to the constellation of Orion - depicted in mythology as a hunter, giant, dancer, scythe, depending on the culture asked. The idea of a sword is prevalent in so many interpretations of the constellation, and this sculpture is a symbolism of a worldwide storytelling. Three pearls will be added to the cross-guard to represent the three stars of Orion's belt, and engraving onto the blade itself to represent M42/M43, the nebulae underneath them.
