SAINTS –

Religion and art have always been closely associated, so it’s only natural that depictions of religion have become a part of photography, alongside its development as a platform of the arts.

As humans, we are fascinated by the mysteries of divinity, and in order to make sense of the vastness of religion, to celebrate it or to try and better understand it, we make art about it.

When it comes to matters concerning religion in modern art, it’s the traditional aspects of it that are often looked to, and brought into our modern day era to see how out of place they look when surrounded by our technologically advanced lifestyles, however, Saints seeks to celebrate this evolution.

This collaborative project with Contemporary Crafts student Heather Naylor explores humanity’s evolving ideology, and brings together ideas of youth culture with the traditions of religion.
