THE FIRMAMENTAL ORNAMENT –

The ubiquity of the moon and stars in our everyday lives often results in an inability to see them for what they really are; rarely do we stop to contemplate their actual, tangible physicality – they fade into nothing but light, and easily become mundanities.

These images were captured in the small, quiet moments of my own recurring realisation of our place in the universe; as one tiny oasis of life in an unending, rapidly expanding and seemingly isotropic universe.

The project seeks to frame the moon and stars in a different context, removing them from their all too frequently ornamental status, and instead, showcasing the contrast and connection between the Earth’s greenery, and the still, barren worlds that reside far above it.
